John Deere 4055 was advertised with a three-point lift of 8,470 with a
lift-assist cylinder or 6,550 pounds without, but the 4055 was unable
to provide that much force during testing at Nebraska. The John Deere
4055 tractor is the first model in the JD 4055 series of row crop tractors.
This tractor has a 114 hp diesel engine that is turbocharged. The engine
uses a liquid cooling system to take excess heat away from the engine.
It fires at a compression ratio of 16:1. The engine uses a dual paper
air filter on the air intake to scrub it of dust and other small particles
that have the potential to accumulate and disrupt the firing process or
even permanently damage the engine. In total this 6 cylinder engine has
a displacement of 7.6 liters.
