John Deere 4255 had been advertised with a three-point lift of 6,550 pounds
or 8,470 pounds with a lift-assist cylinder. The tractor failed to meet
this performance, however, during official testing at Nebraska. The John
Deere 4255 row crop tractor is part of a series of 6 row crop tractors
that includes the John Deere 4455 and the John Deere 4955 tractors. This
tractor stopped getting produced in 1992, but thanks to it’s reliability
and solid construction, it is still fairly popular today. The JD 4255
was built in 2 factories, in the Waterloo facility in Iowa and in the
Saltillo facility which is located in Mexico. The 4255 is marketed towards
row crop farmers but due to it’s ability to work with a range of
attachments like the John Deere 840, it is popular among other users too.
