John Deere 4650 is a very large and powerful machine. It originally appeared
during a production run that lasted from 1983 until 1988. However it’s
still popular and in use today due to it’s robust construction (something
we have come to expect from JD). The JD 4650 was built to replace the
John Deere 4640 tractor. The 4650 has a very powerful diesel engine. This
7.6 liter engine is turbocharged and uses a lubrication that has a capacity
to hold up to 19.9 liters of oil. The engine fires with a compression
ratio of 15.8:1. The liquid cooling system that prevents the engine from
getting too hot is very large, with a capacity to hold up to 30.3 liters
of water. The engine is started with 2, 6 volt batteries. These batteries
are recharged via a 72 amp alternator (or a 90 amp alternator on the tractor
with an operator’s cab).
